Today was an interesting day in the office. The song of the day was "Fool Country." I've never heard of it but it's one of those songs that sticks to you. It's some old Olivia Newton-John song. I swear I've been humming it all day long. I was stuffing envelops for the boss man when Chad came over to my area and started singing his song. I have never heard the song before in my life but now it's playing over and over in my head. I'm not sure I would have figured out what it was if Ann hadn't asked him.
I met Ben today (Mr. Smell Good). He walked in this morning and I wondered who he was because I heard he wouldn't be back until next week and I didn't smell him. He introduced himself to me and then went back to his desk. My nose wasn't picking up on anything.
I was in the kitchen getting some coffee when Chad walked in singing some more. I can't for the life of me figure out how this guy gets any work done. He's always walking around the office and singing! I wonder if he sits up all night picking out random songs to sing. I can almost picture it - but I won't because it's too weird.
Anyway, Ben walked in and stood right next to me as he got his coffee. I discovered that the girls were right. He smells really good. Chad was singing some more and then walked out. I looked at Ben and said, "You might want to pray for Chad." He raised his eyebrows at me and said, "Oh yeah? Why's that?" I replied, "Because I'm going to kill him." Ben laughed and said, "The singing?" I nodded and he told me that he could see that I already fit in there.
All-in-all, it was a pretty good day. I like the job - a lot - and I'm really surprised by it. I thought it would be torture to go there every morning and answer phones, but it's actually fun. The people are nice and even Chad and his quirky mannerisms make the place more exciting. Comic relief.
Now I must sign off and study for a quiz I have tomorrow. Procrastination can only last so long.
